Daniel Yan

Game Programmer

It is my mission to become the game developer that I strive and hope to be.

I’m particularly fond of the action-adventure genre or games that have such rich storytelling behind them. Games like The Last of Us and the Uncharted series made by Naughty Dog, or Horizon Zero Dawn by Guerilla Games, or Life is Strange by Square Enix, these are the games that motivate me in becoming the game developer I’d want to see through.

To become part of a passionate team that will make a game or series of games that when players finish, and as the credits roll, leaving them stunned in their seats and being like: “What. A. Game”, is the ultimate dream for me. I certainly had many moments like that after finishing games that take you on an emotional, thrilling and suspenseful journey, and to be part of that development process is one that I absolutely would love to be a part of.

It was around the time when I was soon graduating from high school that I needed to make a decision—what do I want to pursue as a career? And well… video games was the only thing on my mind, and plus, the topic of video games was actually something I’ve incorporated into my school projects and assignments whenever I had the chance, because I simply could not stop talking about them.

So I thought to myself: “What if I tried to learn how to make games?” Of course, this sounded like a pretty daunting quest, and it certainly is, but there’s just something about games that I find very motivating and intriguing to explore more of, not just the face value of playing them, but to dive deeper in what makes me want to play them and why the heck are they so good at keeping me hooked.

Here. Take one.
Everyone needs a Slushie.

Hi! My name's Daniel. I'm an aspiring game developer who's currently studying game programming at a polytechnic institution.

I strive to be a dedicated learner and put in my best efforts in all that I do, in hopes to one day work in the games industry. I’ve always had a strong passion for video games growing up—I’ve always played them, whether after school when I got home, on the weekends, or even when I was ill from a cold (games can help you rest, can’t they?).
